Firefly Fun on Alishan

The "Firefly Fun on Alishan" activity takes place in the Alishan National Scenic Area in west-central Taiwan's Chiayi County from April 1 to June 30, 2007.

With 23 species of firefly -- one-third of the national total -- Alishan is one of the best places to enjoy the evening flight of these lanterned dancers. Now, local and international visitors can enjoy this captivating spectacle during the 2007 "Dance with the Fireflies at Alishan" activity organized jointly by the Chiayi County Government, the Chiayi Forest District Office, and the Alishan National Scenic Area Administration.

Special firefly viewing tours and tour packages are arranged at nearby communities. Each community is presenting a unique tour experience. Among the highlights are trips to scenic waterfalls, river trails, natural spas, and aboriginal cultural performances. With an overnight stay at a top-quality local inn and the unique flavors of local cuisine, one is sure to have the night of his or her life.
