Maiden Voyage for Great River Queen, the Tourist Cruise

The Great River Queen is the first cruise ship to offer spacious and comfortable tour for 300 people. It is the same type of ocean liner as the Mark Twain that travels on the Mississippi River in the United States. The Great River Queen travels back and forth between Guandu and Danshui (Tamshui) and provides a guided tour. The cruise also offers an European buffet, which is provided by various five-star hotels in Taiwan. While international and local visitors enjoy the beautiful views of mountains and sea, they can also enjoy the food prepared on the cruise. Such a trip offers visitors a whole new leisure activity.

The whole cruise trip takes 2 hours and visitors can experience various views to the Danshui (Tamshui) River and its banks. In the downstream, one can enjoy natural ecological views such as the mangrove and water birds. In the upstream, one can get a good look of Taipei City and its numerous bridges and buildings, including the famous Taipei 101 building. The beautiful sunset on the nearby Guanyin Mountain is also a scene that one should not miss.

The Great River Queen runs 7 days a week. The first cruise runs from 11:30am to 2pm and provides lunch, while the second cruise runs from 7pm to 9:30pm and provides dinner. Other cruises during the afternoon-tea time and on late nights are also available.
