National Palace Museum's 80th Anniversary Special Exhibition
The National Palace Museum in Taipei, Taiwan, is one of the most important museums in the world. The museum is currently celebrating the 80th anniversary of its establishment. In the end of December 2006, the National Palace Museum is introducing a special exhibition titled "Painting and Calligraphy of the Northern Sung: The Legend of Ju Ware and Books of the Sung Dynasty". This is the first time that national treasures from this period of Chinese history will be on public display. The main part of this special exhibition, "Unlocking Classical Northern Sung Art and Culture", will feature 80 works of calligraphy and painting, 50 ceramic works, and 32 books from the Sung Dynasty. There is also a special section that features the latest technology, forensic science and chemical analysis techniques, in order to provide the public and academics alike with new ways of looking at the culture of the Northern Sung Dynasty.
