2005 ING Taipei International Marathon
The 2005 ING Taipei International Marathon takes place in Taipei City on December 18. In 2004, the event attracted more than 90,000 marathoners and runners from Taiwan and overseas. It also created three first-ever records in Taiwan -- the event was the most participated, held the higest prize, and created the best charity effect. In short, the ING Taipei International Marathon has become the most successful event in Taiwan's marathon history. In 2005 ING Taipei International Marathon, the winners of men's and women's categories will recenve up to TWD$100,000 each (pproximately USD$3130, or AUD$4350). There are also great prizes for breaking old records -- 2 hours 13 minutes for men's category, and 2 hours 24 minutes for women's category. Three other categories have been added to the 2005 ING Taipei International Marathon: The Kids Mini Marathon to encourage children's participations; the Policemen & Firemen's Marathon to commend police and emergency officers who protect and serve the citizens; and the Run for Something Better that connects people from different communities. Five routes have been designated for the 2005 ING Taipei International Marathon. The main marathon is 42.195 kilometers long, while the Half Marathon is 21 kilometers long. There is a 10-kilometer Road Run for policemen and firemen, and a 1-kilometer Kids Mini Marathon. All of these four routes begin and end at the Taipei City Hall.
