AccommodationsAs introduced by the Taiwan Yearbook 2006:
From metropolitan areas to mountain towns, it is not difficult for travelers to find accommodation in Taiwan. The Tourism Bureau categorizes accommodation as international tourist class, tourist class, general class, and homestay. All legal accommodations have a specific sign, which is certified by the Tourism Bureau, posted at the front. Some hotels and homestays offer package tours and tour plan services. Taiwan's international-tourist class hotels offer not only regular guest rooms but also shopping arcades, swimming and exercise facilities, entertainment systems, business centers, and fine dining. While many of the best restaurants on the island are independent establishments, a growing number are located in international tourist-class hotels. Top hotels are especially noted for the quality of their Western cuisine. For budget travelers, Taiwan offers many inexpensive hostels and youth activity centers, which vary widely in terms of facilities, services, and price. Homestays are the latest addition to Taiwan's range of accommodation options. Homestay facilities offer travelers a choice that allows them to experience local customs and practices. |
