Aboriginal TV finally gets its budget back

This article was published by the Taiwan Headlines on April 7, 2006. It reports that a freeze on the Aboriginal Television Channel's annual budget was recently lifted by the Legislative Yuan.

The freeze on the Aboriginal Television Channel's annual budget was imposed in January 2006, after lawmakers demanded that the Council of Indigenous Peoples should set up a plan to help secure the Aboriginal TV's independence.

The freeze on two other budget items concerning the Council of Indigenous Peoples were also lifted. These two items are the budget for the building and maintenance of 37 aboriginal museums in Taiwan, and the budget for the development of modern aboriginal communities.

After the freeze was lifted, a proposal was passed into a resolution in the Legislative Yuan, which demanded the government to use its Second Reserve Fund to boost the annual budget of the Council of Indigenous People.
