Community colleges offer filmmaking courses to Hakka students
This article was written by Cecilia Fanchiang and published by the Taiwan Journal on September 9, 2005. According to this article, since September 2005, seven community colleges around Taiwan have begun to offer courses on documentary filmmaking to Hakka students, as part of an effort to revive the disappearing Hakka culture. The courses are sponsored by the National Association for the Promotion of Community Universities and the Council for Hakka Affairs (CHA). There are about 4 million Hakka people in Taiwan. Most of them concentrate in the west-central counties of Taoyuan, Hsinchu and Miaoli. |
