Taiwan's government agencies are urged to work harder to improve the livelihood of the nation's indigenous peoples.

According to a recent report provided by the Council of Indigenous Peoples, the current population of Taiwan's indigenous peoples is about 458,000. Over 210,000 of these are currently in the workforce.

The report also indicates that the unemployment rate in Taiwan's indigenous communities is about 5.76 percent, compared to 4.41 percent for non-aborigine citizens.
