New Attitudes for an Old Bookstore -- Kingstone Looks to the Literary World
This article is the third of a series of article that review Taiwan's bookstores and book-selling industry. It was written by Kate Yang, translated by Scott Gregory, and published by Sinorama Magazine, Volume 29, Number 10, October 2004. It features Kingstone, one of Taiwan's best and largest bookstores. Established in 1983, Kingstone has 92 branches all over Taiwan, most of them near train stations or in busy city blocks. The idea is to bring books to the masses. And with its newly opened "My Library" branch in Taipei City's Chienkuo South Road, which presents more than 30,000 literature-themed books, Kingstone hopes to put a finger on the pulse of the cultural world and redefine the scope of its business. |
