Imaging project means ROCSAT-2 savings
This article was written by Myra Lu and published by The Taiwan Journal on June 27, 2003. The development of Taiwan's aerospace program has progressed steadily since the country's first satellite, ROCSAT-1, was launched into orbit in early 1999. Local researchers are particularly happy about recent successes in developing Taiwan's own image-processing system - one of the key components of the nation's second satellite project. "Once we have our own software, we can make adjustments and duplicates at low cost to satisfy future needs, greatly reducing our dependence on foreign technology," said Wu An-ming, manager of the National Space Program Office's engineering section. |
