Local scientist wins Humboldt Award

It reports that an Academia Sinica researcher has been selected as winner of the Humboldt Research Award and will go to the Germany city of Bonn in April 2008 for the presentation. Lee Der-tsai, a distinguished research fellow and the director of the Institute of Information Science at Academia Sinica, received the notice from Germany's Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, indicating that in recognition of his scientific achievements, he is to be presented with the renowned award. The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, established in 1860, has issued the awards every year to up to 100 scientists around the world to commend and encourage their contributions to scientific advancement. Former winners include 42 Nobel laureates, among tem Lee Yuan-tseh, the former head of Academia Sinica. |
