EVA Airways to forge "golden triangle" in cross-strait cargo
This article was published by the Taiwan Headlines on March 3, 2006. It reports that EVA Airways, one of Taiwan's leading air carriers, recently announced that it will set up a cargo operations center in Hong Kong. With its two other operating bases in Taipei and Shanghai, the company will form a "golden triangle" centered on the Taiwan Strait. EVA saw sales hit an all-time high of NT$88 billion (US$2.75 billion) in 2005. The company expects to see sales grow by 10 percent in 2006 because of the introduction of new aircrafts and the expansion of flight service routes. The company has obtained approval from China's Civil Aviation Administration to cooperate with Shanghai Airways and set up a joint venture. The new company will be called Shanghai International Cargo Airways and officially begin operating in April 2006. |
