The 16th Joint Conference of the Australia-Taiwan Business Council and the ROC-Australia Business Council

Australia and Taiwan: Leading the Regional Recovery

Time: 10-12 September 2000

Place: Hyatt Regency, Sanctuary Cove, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia

The Host: The Australia-Taiwan Business Council (ATBC)

Established in 1983, the ATBC is not just another bilateral business association. In the absence of official relations between Australia and Taiwan the ATBC is a vital bridge and an effective channel of communication and commerce.

Besides working to improve the infrastructure of Australia-Taiwan trade and investment, the ATBC promotes the interests of individual members. It can do this effectively because of the outstanding access and influence which its office holders enjoy and because its Taiwan counterpart, the Republic of China -Australia Business Council (ROCABC), deploys substantial resources for goals which the two councils share.

The Chairman of the ATBC is the Rt Hon lan Sinclair, who held many senior portfolios in the Federal Government and who also served as Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The Conference:

This private sector Conference is an annual gathering of the business and government leaders from Australia and Taiwan whose efforts have made Taiwan Australia's fifth largest market.

Learn more about the vibrant business culture that helped Taiwan lead Asia out of its financial crisis. Make new business friends and find new business opportunities. Share the experience and knowledge of those who have already profited from one of Australia's most stable and productive partnerships.
