WHA resolution passed unanimously

It reports that the Legislative Yuan recently passed a resolution to support Taiwan's bid to become a member of the World Health Assembly. The resolution obtained the unanimous support of legislators from all the political parties Taiwan.

According to the resolution, it is urgent that Taiwan becomes a member of the World Health Assembly, particularly in light of the proliferation of bird flu across the world. The resolution expresses support for Taiwan's bid to win membership in the World Health Assembly and to actively participate in international health and epidemic prevention organizations.

Meanwhile, the resolution also urges China to respect the will of the people in Taiwan, and not to prevent Taiwan from becoming a member of the World Health Assembly during the organization's 59th meeting in Geneva in July 2006.
