Taiwan tells PRC to steer clear of domestic politics

The government said recently that it won't cave in to China's pressure and stop pushing for the country's first popular referendum, a vote that could raise tensions between the rivals. The Taiwan government has been studying the feasibility of holding a referendum on whether the island should be allowed to join the World Health Assembly as an observer, an idea consistently opposed by China. If it is held, the referendum will also decide the fate of the Fourth Nuclear Power Plant. |
