Most support referendum bill, poll finds
This article was from The Central News Agency and published by The Taiwan Headlines on June 25, 2003. More than half of Taiwan people responding to a recent opinion poll support the legalization of the holding of referendums, even if the international media oppose it. The ruling Democratic Progressive Party recently conducted a public opinion survey on the referendum issue. Poll results showed that 58 percent of those interviewed said Taiwan should stick to its guns to legislate a law for its people to exercise their right to vote on initiatives and referendums regardless of what international media might say, while 26 percent said they oppose such legislation and 16 percent had no opinion. |
