Amphibious armored vehicles make appearance in Kaohsiung
This article was published by the Taiwan Headlines on March 29, 2006. It reports that several amphibious armored personnel carriers were recently displayed near southern Taiwan's Kaohsiung Harbor. They are the newest addition in Taiwan's efforts to counter China's military threat. The AAV7-A1 vehicles, purchased second-hand from the United States in 2002, are meant to transport marines from one part of Taiwan to the other in case of war. Taiwan has added to their armored plating, improved the performance of their engines, and upgraded the quality of their weaponry. They will be stationed at two marine bases, one near Kaohsiung in southern Taiwan, and the other at Linkou in northern Taiwan. |
