ROC, Thai labor ministers sign agreements in Thailand

This article was written by Cecilia Fanchiang and published by the Taiwan Journal on August 5, 2005. It details the recent agreements reached by Taiwan and Thailand on the recruitment of workers from Thailand. The agreements are mainly about brokerage services and rules governing worker documentation and screening.

According to official statistics, as of the end of June 2005, there are just over 300,000 registered foreign workers in Taiwan. Over 93,000 of these are from Thailand, forming Taiwan's largest population of migrant workers and making Taiwan the No.1 overseas employment destination for Thai workers.
