Compal Communications to set up plant in India

 

This article was published by the Taiwan Headlines on March 30, 2006. It reports that Taiwan's Compal Communications Inc. is planning to set up a plant in India in response to requests from customers.

Compal Communications is a cell phone subsidiary of the Kinpo-Compal Group. The group has four subsidiaries that focus on production of cell phones and related key components. These four companies will be able to ship a total 90 million cell phones in 2006, more than double the figure of 43 million in 2005.

According to industry analysts, Compal Communications is expected to ship a total of 80 million cell phones in 2006 because of the support of large cell phone player Motorola. Both Motorola and its rival Nokia have decided to set up plants in India.
