Industry forums to highlight first international motorcycle show in Taiwan

This article was published by the Taiwan Headlines on August 31, 2006. It features the first Taiwan International Motorcycle Industry Show (Motorcycle Taiwan 2006), which will take place at the Taipei World Trade Center from October 27 to 29, 2006. The event will be the world's only exhibition that brings together exhibitors throughout the motorcycle industry.

According to the event's organizer, Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the Taiwan International Motorcycle Industry Show will have two key industry forums. So far, the trade promoter has finalized the invitation of Roberto Marabese, chief designer of the world-famous powered two-wheeler (PTW) design company Marabese Design, to bring the audience up to speed on the current and future trends of PTW design.

According to TAITRA, Roberto Marabese is the chief designer of complete PTWs and performance PTW parts, and his design company has been involved in PTW design for more than 30 years. Marabese Design has rolled out many popular PTW designs, including the Silver Horse and WH Road for Harley Davidson in the 1980s. The company has also worked closely with Italy's Piaggio for more than 20 years.

Meanwhile, Tim Buche, chief executive officer (CEO) of the MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) and the MIC (Motorcycle Industry Council), will also be invited to talk about the American ATV market and future development tendencies. The MIC is an alliance of major motorcycle manufacturers, including BMW, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, Piaggio/Vespa, Suzuki, Victory and Yamaha. The MIC also donates hundreds of thousands of dollars annually to the MSF for what appears to be a sincere lobbying and public relations effort.

According to TAITRA, Motorcycle Taiwan 2006 is expected to attract about 140 exhibitors in about 400 booths to showcase high-quality and innovative products. The major themes at the event include complete vehicles (motorcycles, scooters, ATVs, electric scooters and electric bicycles), engines and parts, frames, accessories, riding accessories, vehicle testing and inspection equipment, and noise and emissions testing equipment.

Finally, Motorcycle Taiwan 2006 will showcase four major areas: The Capability of Made-in-Taiwan products; Design and Innovation; ATV Trends; and Tuning and Performance Enhancing Parts.
