Delta Electronics to expand production in Dongguan
This article was published by the Taiwan Headlines on May 26, 2006. It reports that Dalta Electronics Group, Taiwan's leading manufacturer of power suppliers, will set up a new production base in Dongguan in China's Guangdong Province. The new facility will concentrate on the development and production of high-capacity power supplies for LCD TVs. The new facility will be considerably larger than Delta's current production base, also in Dongguan. After the new facility begins mass production, Delta hopes to replace large Japanese firms as the world's largest supplier of power supplies for high-definition TVs. At the new production base, Delta will build two to three large-sized plants for the production of high-capacity power supplies that are used in LCD TVs, medium- and high-tier servers, and communication products. In contrast, the company's current production base has five large-sized plants that focus on the production of a variety of power supplies, networking products, transformers, and electric fans. The current facility is the world's largest production base for the power supplies used in desktop computers. It is also Delta's operating headquarters in China. At present, Delta is the world's largest supplier of power supplies, with a 55 percent share in the international personal computer power supply market. The company also produces power supplies for iPod music players for Apple Computer in the United States, for PS2 video game consoles for Sony Corp. in Japan, and for Xbox360 video game consoles for Microsoft Corp. in the United States. This is despite the fact that Delta's share of the world's LCD TV power supply market remains under 5 percent. Delta has set a goal to see its monthly production capacity of power supplies reach 600,000 units by the end of 2006. |
