Textile makers in southern Taiwan form alliance
This article was published by the Taiwan Headlines on April 26, 2006. It reports that some 60 makers of textiles and related products in southern Taiwan recently formed an alliance to share research and development and material resources. Members of the alliance can also jointly apply for subsidies from the government to carry out development projects together. According to the alliance, because Taiwan's textile industry is already quite mature, the resources and technologies own by manufacturers are often overlapped. If these manufacturers can share the resources and technologies, then the textile industry can upgrade to a new peak. More innovative products can also be developed. The newly formed alliance will arrange seminars every month that focus on exchanges of advanced technologies, management know-how and case studies. New products will be demonstrated at the seminars and those international shows hosted by Taiwan. For example, various new textile products will be jointly developed by the alliance's members and displayed at the 2006 Taipei International Textile Show, which is scheduled to take place in October. |
