More than 20,000 food processing firms in Taiwan will be required to register with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) between October 12 and December 12 this year, according to the Board of Foreign Trade (BOFT) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The measure is aimed at preventing a bioterrorism attack on the United States. The FDA has requested that over 200,000 food processing companies around the world register with the FDA. Those who cannot meet the FDA regulation will be banned from exporting products to the United States.
