BenQ to oustrip Samsung in LCD monitor shipment in 2006

It reports that according to Taiwan's BenQ Corp., its LCD monitor shipment in 2006 should be able to surpass that of its major South Korean rival Samsung. BenQ's monitor business currently accounts for about 50 percent of its total revenue. The shipment volume of the company's LCD monitor business in the first quarter of 2006 grew by more than 60 percent from the same period in 2005, while the revenue grew by 50 percent. In the same time, the global monitor market is expected to see a 20 percent to 25 percent volume growth in 2006. In 2005, BenQ commanded 10 percent of the global LCD monitor supply, surpassing 7 percent of South Korea's LG and approaching Samsung's 10 percent. It is expected that with its active development in OEM business, BenQ will surpass Samsung in 2006. |
