Seventh flat panel display exposition spotlights growth of the sector

This article was written by Marie Feliciano and published by the Macroview Weekly on June 15, 2005. It features the seventh annual display exposition and Photonics Festival recently held at the Taipei World Trade Center.

This year's exposition attracted more than 25,000 industry representatives, including vendors, buyers and trade professionals. Meanwhile, the Photonics Festival consisted of three trade fairs -- the Opto Taiwan 2005, the OptoCom Taiwan 2005, and the LED Lighting Taiwan 2005. Other associated events included a Market and Technology Trend Conference, Outstanding Photonics Product Awards, and the Exhibitors' Seminars.

Statistics show that Taiwan's display industry has already surpassed the US$20 billion-mark. Furthermore, in the LCD (liquid crystal display) and PDP (plasma digital panel) markets, the center of global production has already moved to Taiwan and Korea.
