South Australian writer Ann Clancy signs up to publish Rebel Girl as Chinese e-book
South Australia-based writer Ann Clancy recently signed up with Taiwan.com.au Portal to translate and publish her novel Rebel Girl as a Chinese e-book. It will be published in Traditional Chinese in January 2012.
Rebel Girl, Clancy's second novel, is the story of Bonnie Douglas, whose family has been driven from their Highland crofts and transported to Australia. No strangers to injustice, Bonnie and her father have survived at the Encounter Bay Whaling Station on the wild, windswept southern coast of Australia, right at the edge of civilization. They have their freedom, until Sergeant Rowan Elliott arrives.
When Bonnie's father is accused of murder and taken away, Bonnie is driven to bushranging, fighting injustice and taunting the troopers with her rebel song. She is pursued relentlessly by Sergeant Elliott, across trackless lands, to places where no white woman has been before. The story is about Bonnie's fury and hurt, as well as her determination to right all the wrongs. It is also about her pursuit of true love.
Set in Australia's turbulent past, Rebel Girl presents an unforgettable Australian heroine. We look forward to bringing the electronic version of this wonderful book to readers in Taiwan and acorss the Chinese-speaking world.

Personhood Press signs up to publish The Adventures of Mali & Keela as Chinese e-book
California-based Personhood Press recently signed up with Taiwan.com.au Portal to translate and publish their work The Adventures of Mali & Keela: A Virtues Book for Children as a Chinese e-book. It will be published in Traditional Chinese in March 2012.
Mali and Keela are good friends. As they and Mali's pet monkey Bongo sail the South Seas from Banana Island to Glow-Worm Cave, caring, trust, determination and peacefulness are just a few of the many virtues they explore along the way.
Written by Jonathan Collins and illustrated by Jenny Cooper, this collection of 13 beautifully crafted adventure stories captivates the imagination while inspiring children to discover the best within themselves. Each story visits four virtues, so that by the time our heroes sail home at the end of the book, 52 virtues have been explored.
At the end of each story, an interactive section encourages discussion and helps adults and children alike find the meaning and the magic of the virtues in their own lives.

Taiwan.com.au Portal promotes Chris Womersley's Bereft
Australia-based publisher Scrib Publications recently gave permission for Taiwan.com.au Portal to promote Chris Womersley's novel Bereft.
It is 1919. The Great War has ended, but the Spanish flu epidemic is raging across Australia. Schools are closed, state borders are guarded by armed men, and train travel is severely restricted. There are rumors it is the end of the world.
In the New South Wales town of Flint, Quinn Walker returns to the home he fled ten years earlier when he was accused of an unspeakable crime. Aware that his father and uncle would surely hang him, Quinn hides in the hills surrounding Flint. There, he meets the orphan Sadie Fox -- a mysterious young girl who seems to know more about the crime than she should.
A searing gothic novel of love, longing and justice, Bereft is about the suffering endured by those who go to war and those who are forever left behind.
Bereft was the winner of the ABIA Literary Fiction Book of the Year 2011 and the winner of the Indie Award for Fiction 2011. It was shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Award 2011, the Age Book of the Year Award, the ALS Gold Medal 2011, the Nielsen BookData 2011 Booksellers Choice Award, and the Ned Kelly Award for Best Fiction. Taiwan.com.au Portal is proud of this rare opportunity to promote this wonderful children's book to readers in Taiwan and across the Chinese-speaking world.
