Lishan

Lishan is located in Heping Township in central Taiwan's Taichung County. It has an altitude of 2000 meters and is a famous summer resort in Taiwan. The Lishan Scenic Area focuses on the Central Cross-Island Highway. It covers Heping Township in Taichung County and part of Ren-ai Township in Nantou County.

Lishan is renowned for its production of pears, apples and peaches. (In fact, "li" in Chinese means "pears", so "Lishan" literally means "Mountain of Pears".) Surrounded by Fushou Mountain (Fushoushan), Wuling Forest Park and Gukuan, Lishan has beautiful mountainous scenery. It is also famous for its flowers, vegetables, teas, and waterfalls.

Lishan Culture Museum is about one kilometer away from the entrance of Fushou Mountain. The museum presents the history of Lishan's development and the construction of the Central Cross-Island Highway, as well as artifacts from the local Atayal aboriginal tribe.
