Tataka Recreation Area
Tataka Recreation Area is located in Hsinyi Township in central Taiwan's Nantou County. It has an altitude of 2,600 meters and is the northwest entrance to the Yushan National Park. Plenty of beautiful mountains and rivers are in the vicinity. Because Tataka is on the border of Yushan (Mt Jade) and Alishan (MT Ali), mountain climbers often gather here before they set out. The Yushan National Park established a tourist center here in 1991, providing food, beverages and detailed ecological introduction to the geography, weather, flora and fauna of the region. From Tataka to Alishan (MT Ali) stretches a hiking track as long as 20 kilometers. There are beautiful flowers along the track in spring and autumn. Four other tracks are available in the area, with plenty of signs and introduction boards that explain the plants, mountains, rivers and ecological system in the region. All the tracks are well-paved and easy to use. |
