Little Half Heaven (Hsiao Ban Tian)

Little Half Heaven (Hsiao Ban Tian) is a small holiday resort located in Lugu Township in central Taiwan's Nantou County. "Lugu" means "Deer Valley" in Chinese. It is the largest tea-producing township in Taiwan.

The region is surrounded by gentle hills covered with tea bushes. While there are many traditional home-style teahouses, local and international visitors can also visit the Tea Culture Museum, which introuces the history of tea. The museum regularly organizes tea competitions where the best-quality tea produced by the region's tea plantations is judged.

Perhaps the most famous tea produced in this region is the Dongding Oolong Tea, which is named after the 740-meter Mt Dongding (Frozen Peak Mountain). The tea is mild and fragant and half-fermented.

Little Half Heaven is about a ten-minute drive from Lugu. The resort has a beautiful bamboo gate, and its information center is a good place for local and international visitors to learn about the resort's numerous agro- and eco-tourism facilities. The resort also provides innovative DIY activities about the use of bamboo, and delicious bamboo feasts are offered. Nearby are hiking tracks that lead to waterfalls and local tea plantations.
