Executive Yuan Endemic Species Research Institute

The Executive Yuan Endemic Species Research Institute is located in Jiji Township in central Taiwan's Nantou County. It is an organization that promotes ecological conservation and educates the public about the ecological resources and conservation plans in Taiwan.

The institute is also a museum. In front of the main building is an old banyan tree, which takes visitors back to the old days when people used to gather around the trees and socialize. The big tree crown and its sweet fruit attract many different kinds of animals, including birds, insects, lizards and squirrels. This is a living tree which also functions as a natural "air purifier".

The main theme of the museum is Taiwan's ecological resources. Different minor themes include: Ecosystems of different altitudes, Endemic Creatures, Endemic Plants and Environments, Natural Resource Conservation, the Secret of the Plants and Creatures, and many others. Each theme is presented via multimedia exhibitions. Outside the museum is the spacious Biological Educational Park and the Butterfly Park.
