Mt Hehuan (Hehuan Mountain)

MT Hehuan (Hehuan Mountain) is located between Ren-ai Township in central Taiwan's Nantou County and Hsioulin Township in eastern Taiwan's Hualien County. The mountain reaches an elevation of 3,416 meters and is a famous ski resort in Taiwan. It is the best place to see snow in Taiwan's subtropical climate and to escape from the island's summer heat.

MT Hehuan can be reached by a paved highway from Wushe. This is the highest road in Taiwan, reaching an elevation of 3,275 meters at its highest point. MT Hehuan is also the westernmost point of the Taroko National Park. The area offers magnificent views and the beautiful Taiwanese phenomenon of the "Sea of Clouds" in the morning.

Most significantly, MT Hehuan is the starting point of one of Taiwan's most challenging and exciting treks. The trek to MT Chilai (or Chilaishan) is a two-day "ultimate experience" that involves negotiating a knife-edge ridge with many dizzying pinnacles. Along the trek, a lot of unique native birds and animals can be seen.
