Chiayi Night Market

The Wenhua Road Night Market in Chiayi City is a pedestrian area that extends for almost half a kilometer. It is where all kinds of local snacks and delicacies can be sampled. Some of the well-known local delicacies include the water-spray chicken rice, square crisp cakes, rice cakes, and the Tung-tsai shrimp eggs.

The locals celebrate the birthday of the Jade Emperor on the sixth day of the third lunar month of the Chinese leap year. A wide range of ceremonial activities and parties take place around the night market, and everybody is invited to feast throughout the whole month. Hundreds of food stalls are set up to promote Chiayi's special delicacy culture.
