Chiayi City Cultural Center

The Chiayi City Cultural Center contains three buildings, which are the Chiayi Municipal Museum, a library, and a music hall. Surrounding the buildings is a large green park, with a pond, walking tracks and other recreational facilities. The pond, at the north side of the music hall, was used as a place to store wood during the construction of the Alishan (Mt Ali) railroad. It was also known as the "pool of Chinese fir".

The Chiayi Municipal Museum is mainly engaged in collecting, studying and displaying historical relics about Chiayi County. The museum's Geology Hall and Fossil Hall are used for regular exhibitions. There are three other special exhibition rooms that display artifacts on an irregular basis.
