Museum art enters daily life through chinaware
This article was written by Bowun Jhu and published by the Taiwan Journal on September 2, 2005. It features a recent deal between Taiwan's National Palace Museum and Franz Collection Inc. to promote chinaware products that are adorned with motifs based on digital images of artworks in the museum's collection. Digitization of the National Palace Museum's art objects is one of the five-year National Digital Archives Program, which was launched by the National Science Council in 2002. With some 650,000 art objects in its collection, the museum is exploring further opportunities to bring arts and culture to a wider audience. Franz Collection has been doing well in retail markets around the world since 2001. It has 5,500 outlets worldwide, including Europe, the United States, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand, with annual sales topping US$10 million. |
