Jingfu Shrine
Built in 1750, the Jingfu Shrine is the only village god temple certified as a historical site in Tainan City. It is near a popular market place and has witnessed much commercial exchange and transportation throughout the years. The shrine is of standard traditional Chinese architectural style, with a rounded ridge, a worshipping kiosk and a main hall. The overall structure is made with brick, stone and wood. There are two big stone sculptures on each side of the gable in the shrine's main hall. Another two stone tablets are embedded on the left wall in front of the shrine. One of the stone tablets was erected in 1780, recording the renovation of the shrine. It also contains a warning sign saying that no buildings should be taller than the shrine; otherwise, legal action will be taken. Another stone tablet was erected during the Ching (Qing) Dynasty, chronicling the shrine's reconstruction. |
