Hengchun Ancient City (Old Walls of Hengchun)

Hengchun, in Pingtung County, is on the southern tip of Taiwan. It gets its name because it enjoys spring-like weather all year round.

The old Hengchun city was built in 1873 during the Qing Dynasty. The city wall, which is the best preserved in Taiwan, is 2,700 meters long with gates. The old walls in the center of Hengchun have been designated as a second-grade historic site.

Local and international visitors may begin their tour at the West Gate and walk to the Matsu Temple. They can proceed to the South Gate and the East Gate, where they can climb to the top for panoramic views of the town.
