Shuangliu National Forest Recreation Area

The Shuangliu National Forest Recreation Area is located in Hsitze Township in southern Taiwan's Pingtung County. It features beautiful rivers and other water scenes, such as the Fengkang River and the Shuangliu Waterfall. The waterfall is over 20 meters in height, and the pounding sound and dense mist it creates are the most famous scene in the area.

In the Shuangliu National Forest Recreation Area there are dense forests, which make it a perfect place to get in touch with Mother Nature. There are pavilions and stone chairs along the many hiking trails so that visitors can take a rest. The walking trail from the entrance of the area to the Shuangliu Waterfall is more than 3.5 kilometers long. It is particularly beautiful and suitable for recreational activities.

Mt Matze, or Matzeshan, is the highest point in the area, 650 meters in altitude. Standing on top of the mountain, one can see the Pacific Ocean to the east and the Taiwan Strait to the west.
