Wind-blown Sand (Fongchuisha)

The Wind-blown Sand, or Fongchuisha, is located in Hengchun Township in southern Taiwan's Pingtung County, about two kilometers north of Longpan Park.

The area features a unique natural phenomenon. During the rainy season in summer, a mixture of red soil and sand is washed down the gentle slopes into the Pacific Ocean, creating a kind of "sand river". In winter, strong northeastern monsoon winds blow the sand from the shore back onto the land, reversing the direction of the flow. This natural spectacle is best viewed in winter.
