Jialeshui Scenic Area
The area used to be called Chia-Low-Shui, which meant waterfall. It was renamed Jialeshui in 1975 because it means happiness in Chinese. With the constant erosion by the sea and Pingtung County's strong winds, Jialeshui's terrain is very special. There are numerous unique rock shapes, such as the rabbit rock, the ball rock, the frog rock, the grid rock, and the beehive rock. Some of these rocks look like chessboards. Sometimes, in the beehive-shaped rocks, one can even find the remains of living creatures. There is abundant wildlife in Jialeshui Scenic Area, as plenty of marine creatures live here. With the Japanese current Kuroshio passing here every year, fish resources are rich so that fishing enthusiasts come here often. In Jialeshui Scenic Area, there is a 2.5-kilometer walking track paved with stone. It leads to the Shanhai Waterfall, which is formed by three streams of water. On the top of the waterfall is a grassland that boasts expansive views. |
