Tianliao Moon World

The Tianliao Moon World is located in Kaohsiung County's Tianliao Township. As a tract of barren land between two villages, the area has a dreary and desolate beauty of desert and is famous for its similarity to the landscape of the Moon surface. The queer terrain is an adverse landscape caused by the strong erosion of rain and rivers over the years.

The Tianliao Moon World sits in the valley of a small tributary of Er-ren River and used to have a dam for sediment storage to store water in the rainy season. However, the dam was washed away about 10 years ago. Today, nothing but total desolation is left here. Apart from the eye-catching Chinese-style tourist center standing nearby for visitors to rest and appreciate the sight of the area, there are also several temples and mud springs as well as camping sites here.
