Tengchi National Forest Recreation Area

 

The Tengchi National Forest Recreation Area is located in Kaohsiung County's Taoyuan Township. It has an altitude ranging from 500 to 1,804 meters. Hence, the plants in the area are diversified. Average temperature in the area is 10 degrees Celsius, lower than that at the sea level.

There are plenty of cryptomeria trees, maples and cherry trees in the area. From the outlook points, visitors can see the magnificent Yushan half submerged in the clouds. Currently, sub-montane evergreen broad-leaved forest currently occupies 50 percent of the total area and is the best preserved natural forest in Taiwan. The walking track through the area is 4,300 meters long. In addition, there are rare birds and butterflies in the area.
