Tsuifeng Lake

Tsuifeng Lake is located at an altitude of 1,900 meters between Taiping Mountain (Taipingshan) and Dayuan Mountain, in Datong Township in northern Taiwan's Yilan County. The lake has a surface area of 20 hectares and is the largest alpine lake in Taiwan.

The water here is crystal clear. The view of the sunrise over the lake is also spectacular. Most significantly, visitors can sometimes catch sight of the rare mikado and blue belly pheasants.

A trip to Tsuifeng Lake requires a A-class mountain pass, which can be obtained at the Taipingshan Inspection Post by presenting an ID or passport. Entry by vehicles is controlled, so visitors who drive should ask about the entry times before setting out. As the last five kilometers of the road is gravel, care must be exercised when driving here. It is always excellent to walk.
