Lailai Rock Fishing Area

The coastline between Lailai and Yinggeshi contains the most fully developed sea-eroded platforms on Taiwan's Northeast Coast. The warm ocean currents that flow past the coast support rich growths of plankton and algae that, in turn, nourish a wide variety of fish in great abundance. Lailai, in particular, boasts a sunning coastal terrain with unique geological formations and a captivating view of the Pacific Ocean.

For these reasons, the Lailai-Yinggeshi coastline is known as the best rock-fishing area along the Northeast Coast. The broad expanses of stone platform and pebble beach here attract large crowds of zealous anglers everyday. Since 1984, the Tourism Bureau has held an annual fishing competition here, drawing anglers from around the nation and overseas.
