Fulong Beach and the Fulong Visitor Center

 

Fulong Beach is located in Gongliao Township, Taipei County, at the mouth of the Shuanghsi River, the largest river in Taiwan's Northeast Coast. The beach faces the Pacific Ocean and stretches three kilometers with golden sand. It has long been the most popular swimming beach and summer resort in Northern Taiwan.

Along the Fulong Beach, the sand dune vegetation and Shuanghsi estuary ecology are ideal for outdoor learning activities. A bridge connects the inland river and beachfront areas. The river in this area is calm and suitable for sailing, canoeing, banana boating, cross-country diving, jeep riding, and parasailing. At the ocean, visitors can enjoy various kinds of water sports, such as swimming, wind surfing, canoeing, and other non-powered boating activities.

The public facilities available at Fulong Beach include parking lots, shaded pavilions, wooden walkways, shower rooms, restaurants, and overnight accommodations.

The Fulong Visitor Center and the Northeast Coast National Scenic Area Administration are located at Fulong Beach in a two-story building with red tiles and white walls. The visitor center provides information and illustrations on the tourist attractions, geographical features and culture of Taiwan's Northeast Coast.

On the first floor of the visitor canter, there are two Projection Rooms showing four films: "The Blue Coast of Taiwan: The Northeast Coast National Scenic Area", "Scenic Spots on the Northeast Coast", "Driftwood Miracle", and "Plants in Fulong and Yanliao". At the Recreation Center, visitors can learn about various land, sea and sky activities that can be ejoyed along Taiwan's Northeast Coast. The Driftwood Gallery features works of sculpture that have derived from driftwood washed up on the beaches by typhoons. The Informaiton Desk provides all kinds of information for domestic and international tourists.

On the second floor of the visitor center, the Nature Area provides information on the weather, plants, animals and geology of the Northeast Coast. The Culture Area introduces rural life and the life of fishermen along the Northeast Coast. The Art Area features works by local artists and other special exhibitions.
