Yingge

Yingge was called Ge Shi Chuang (Village of the Singing Rock) in the past, because there was a bird-shaped rock near the town. After the Second World War, the Taipei County Government renamed the town Yingge, which means "bird singing".

The famous Old Street in Yingge is in fact Chien Shan Pu Road. After reconstruction, the old street has gained a modern look, showcasing more than 100 pottery and procelain shops. Each shop boasts its own characteristics and unique works of art. Some of the restaurants also give diners the cups or plates they have used for free. Even the ice cream stand has lovely mugs and cups for customers to purchase.

Many ancient buildings can be found in Yingge. In the shops along the town's beautifully paved streets, visitors can appreciate the pottery and porcelain works. They can also enjoy various street performances as they sit down and have a cup of coffee in a nearby cafe. Some of the shops offer studio lessons for visitors to learn how to make their own pottery works.
