Taipei County -- Introduction

Taipei County is only a short distance from Taipei City. But with its famous mountains, beaches, temples, waterfalls and hot spring resorts, Taipei County offers the kind of peace and relaxation that is getting harder to find in Taipei City.

Taipei County is rich in cultural resources. It hosts a rich variety of historical and cultural activities. The Taipei County Government has established museums of tea culture, pottery and ceramics, and other sites to help preserve the memory of the common history and culture in the region. A trip to these places offers visitors a unique opportunity of seeing how Taipei County expanded gradually inland, from a small port at the gathering of the Tamshui, Hsintien and Keelung Rivers, to its present scope as a major cultural county in North Taiwan.
