This article was published by the Taiwan Headlines on September 29, 2006. It features the 2006 Yingge International Ceramics Festival, which will take place in Yingge Township in northern Taiwan's Taipei County from October 6 to 29, 2006. According to the Taipei County Yingge Ceramics Museum, the theme of this year's activity will be "fun in a ceramics park". The main events of the festival will be held in the ceramics park that is located right behind the ceramics museum.

According to Yingge Township officials, a number of activities will also be held along Wenhua Street, in front of the Yingge train station. Indeed, in the past, Wenhua Street was the center of activity, with people coming from all over Taiwan to sell their pottery. The area was the previous government and economic center of Yingge.

For the duration of the festival, a carnival will be held on Wenhua Street. The event aims to enable local and international visitors to have a chance of seeing the large number of cultural relics located on the street. Visitors will also have an opportunity to pick up some bargains at a flea market to be held.

According to the Yingge Ceramics Museum, the Yingge International Ceramics Festival is one of the major annual events held in Taipei County. The festival includes a wide variety of activities for local and international visitors to enjoy. Specifically, this year's theme is to bring people even closer to ceramics. A special ceramics exhibition and kiln demonstration will be held, as well as various other related performances. Visitors will also have the opportunity to get their hands in clay and make pottery on their own.

According to the museum, the kiln demonstration will focus on the making of mini kilns. The heat thrown by the kilns will be more than enough to bake sweet potatoes, which will certainly be an attraction to the public. The mini kilns will be constructed by students and teachers from local schools. This will be the first time that mini kilns made out of mud bricks will be made in Yingge, and they will clearly look different from kilns made out of earth.
