Easy Riding on Kinmen

Written by Cheng Yuan-ching and translated by Robert Taylor, this article was originally published by Taiwan's Sinorama magazine in May 1994.

The article features the first organized bicycle tour of Kinmen, which was led by Hu Jung-hua (well known in Taiwan for his worldwide cycling expeditions) and sponsored by Taiwan's Giant Sports Foundation. The tour was both entertaining and educational, as its participants visited various scenic spots and learned about Kinmen's folk customs and historical relics throughout their four-day ride. In all, they rode about 140 kilometers. It was agreed that Kinmen is a wonderful place for cycling. Its roads are broad and straight and lined with lofty trees. There are few motor vehicles, and the air is fresh and the environment clean. It really is a cyclist's paradise.
