Policy and Future Plans

As introduced by the Taiwan Yearbook 2006:

The Tourism Bureau has launched a series of programs to attract more tourists from abroad. These include: arranging existing and new package tour routes, developing new sites of interest to tourists and the Taiwan Tour Bus service, increasing advertising and promotions to attract tourists from abroad, and cultivating the meeting, incentives, conferences and exhibition (MICE) industry.

In order to promote 2006 as Taiwan International Youth Travel Year, the National Youth Commission (http://www.nyc.gov.tw) has launched a number of programs, including discounts, travel cards, and job opportunities, to encourage young travelers to visit Taiwan. Package tours during special events, such as shooting beehive rockets on the Lantern Festival in February, the seafarers' deity Ma Zu's pilgrimage in March, and celebrations associated with the Ghost Month in July and August, are designed particularly for young travelers from abroad.
